To Get Really Clean...You Need Dirt

The daily dirt bath is an important part of the day for any chicken. Generally, there will be many dirt baths per day. Dirt seems to be a great cleaner for their feathers.  Even more important...the dirt bath chases away all of the little parasites that can kill a chicken. A baby chick can become infested with mites or other ugliness in a matter of hours. That's why any chicken that can't get a dirt bath isn't a very clean chicken...or very happy. Baby chicks can die in a single day if they don't get their daily dirt baths. Checks and balances is all Nature ever offers...dirt is a major part of that system...
