These pictures document the ugly side of owning fighting roosters. I love these birds and I don't ever subject them to the activity they know best...but, sometimes Nature schedules it's own heavyweight fights. When this happens, the outcome can range from some ruffled feathers and hurt pride all the way to death to one (or both) of the roosters. If the birds are evenly matched, the fight can last a long time...but probably won't end in death. The birds will bite and kick each other and there may be some blood. Eventually they will be exhausted and either separate willingly, or accidentally from disorientation. Sometimes, they are exhausted with barely enough strength to hold on to each other. Sometimes the birds even go into shock.
These pictures are more than 24 hours after the fight. I was lucky to discover it early. It was very bloody...but no severe injury. I think they had been fighting at least five minutes. They were going at it full speed and not tired at all. Thanks to Noah from Sand Canyon Feed for taking the other rooster and giving it a home. That was a big help.
