There is no way to deny it...life is always mysterious. There is mystery everywhere we look. Most of the time, we just don't see it because we are preoccupied by the 'importance' of the moment...or, sometimes we miss it because there is nothing going on except the same old routine. But the mystery is always there waiting to be claimed by its rightful owner...and there is always enough for everyone. For instance...
Today, while taking pictures, I noticed something under my Honda generator...it looked like a bird wing. I leaned over to see a baby chick in a odd state of illness (or, maybe death). The baby was still alive but seemed to be caught under the generator...so I got down on my knees to get a better look. What I saw was completely unexpected. A rattlesnake was underneath the baby chick. I couldn't see the head of the snake. I grabbed my snake hook and gently hooked the snake's body and tried to pull him out and away from the generator. That's when I saw that the snake was still biting the baby...right then, it let go of the baby. As I secured the snake, my wife grabbed the baby chick and tried to help it. It had been bitten twice. When she put it in my hands, its breathing was so shallow it was barely moving. The obvious was now the inevitable...but, I held him for 30 minutes to be sure. I thought he might still be alive.
So, life can be boring and dull...or, it can be a non-stop rat race...or, in the blink of an eye you might find yourself holding God's hand while He calls on you to comfort a baby chicken during its last two minutes of life. But, make no mistake about it...you are holding God's hand. Sometimes, the last movements of a dying baby chick are so strong...that, it seems impossible to have come from something so tiny. And then...
...it is over...
