I went to visit my Mom yesterday. Even though she is very sick, she still radiates Joy and seeing her was just what I needed. I've had a lot of sadness lately with the chickens. But, that all changed yesterday. But, first, some history...a couple of weeks ago, I posted pictures of Indigo...my new black hen. I only owned her for three weeks. She got killed by a coyote, and it was very tragic. She had been laying eggs, and was ready to go broody when she got killed. I divided her eggs between two other nests and a day later, two other hens started incubating them. One of the nests was destroyed the next day by a squirrel...all eggs lost. The other nest had better luck. Yesterday, Indigo's legacy arrived...and now we have proof that heartache and despair can actually have special meaning which is impossible to foresee. Here's Indigo, again...and the special gift that she brought for me. She gave everything to make sure it was delivered...and she was only here 3 weeks. Thanks, Indigo!
