Baby Chicks Are Here Again...

Simply irresistible...
Does anything have more charm than a baby chicken? There are currently 27 new baby chicks running around here and more on the way. There aren't many things in the world that can equal the intensity of looking into their eyes. It is a special sight to behold and the most rewarding sort of dividends you could ever receive.
Roosters and chickens are a lot of work, but it is always worth it when the eggs start hatching...cheep, cheep, cheep!

A button and two needles

There was a baby rattlesnake outside yesterday. He was very big compared to the ones I've seen in the past. Rattlesnakes give birth to live young. They are defense-ready with fangs and venom but, the rattle is not yet a rattle...just a button. Every time it sheds its skin, it will get another rattle. This will happen many times per year...thus, the snake's age cannot be determined via counting rattles. The venom is full strength, though...so, please be careful.

Resting up for stardom

Time to rest...
the afternoon was long...
but, tomorrow will be faster...
and pretty soon you will be grown
and it will seem like the blink of an eye
but, for now...keep them closed
...sleep.

The Jet Report

Jet is still growing and getting meaner...
He is the king of the ranch. He's so aggressive, that he may need to be caged soon. There have been many bloody fights recently. Jet has won all of them. Expect a lot of black chicks soon...

Small update

This small update is about a small black baby chick.
"Nameless" is still untitled...but, maybe soon he or she will get a moniker that fits like a new suit...
This baby is our first black baby since Jet...

Why continue?

Why should we continue?
Maybe, because Life goes on with or without us.
...that's enough of a reason, I think...
There might be other reasons, but...
the letdowns are beautiful, too.
There is proof that suffering is part of joy...
It must be endured, comprehended...and accepted.
Sincerity, friendship, honesty...they can only be found in pure form...and they all guarantee the risk of heartbreak.
Our chickens cause plenty of heartbreak and tears...
but, most of the time they are all fun!!!
Here are the newest faces in the family...
they are all perfect reasons to keep going...
